Many places throughout the UK now have well established Christmas Markets which were first held in Bautzen, Germany in 1384 and the trend is growing in this area with Christmas Markets in the Lake District now becoming a reason to visit in December.
This weekend the Hawkshead Christmas Fair takes place with 80 festive stalls selling crafts and feed and drink plus entertainment for the whole family even if this rain does continue.
The new kid on the Christmas Market block is the one in Windermere which has gone from nothing a few years ago to one of the busiest in the area. This two day extravaganza has something for everyone, including a stall from the wonderful folk at the Crafy Baa (my favorite)
The Keswick Victorian Fayre is just in time to qualify as a Christmas event taking place each year in early December and like the Windermere event is a firm favorite with locals and visitors alike. It is recommended to get in the spirit of the event and dress up in Victorian attire.
The Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank have a great outdoor Market with a Christmas theme, and its at a pub so whats not to like there?
Now that you have my favourites heres some links to more events so you can go round and make your own up mind.
