One of the biggest sporting events to take place in the Lake District returns this weekend when thousands of swimmers head to Brockhole for the great North Swim. The swimmers will be tackling a variety of distances from 250 meters, to 10k.
After ten years at the Low Wood near Ambleside the Great North Swim has moved to a larger venue at Brockhole which is the Lake District National Park Authority visitor centre. It is also home to a host of events and activity options for all the family including Tree Top Treks.
The Great North Swim sees all shapes sizes and abilities take to the water and with open water swimming becoming ever more popular it is a fantastic and often first opportunity for swimmers to venture outside of the pool.
