As you may have seen in the local and national media May 1st saw the launch of the Lake Districts own currency the Lake District Pound.
Following other local currencies in Brixton, Bristol and Liverpool a group of investors have decided to follow suite launch a similar project in which will be aimed at supporting local independent businesses.
In addition to spending the Lake District Pound some establishments taking the currency will be able to stamp a “passport” which is loinked to the project.
The launch day involved some of the organisers and members of the press traveled through the Lakes by Mountain goat bus and boat spending their LD£s in various establishments.
